Dr. Gregory J. Hunter

Dr. Hunter loves surgery! And he loves helping patients! Whether he is helping people who have lost teeth get dental implants to replace them or helping teenagers with their wisdom teeth, he is among the best at helping patients improve their lives. And he loves having fun while he does it! You might actually hear him try to sing during surgery. He’s not very good at singing but he likes to try. If you don’t want him to sing, ask him to play some music and you’ll be pals forever, especially if it’s classic rock. Dr. Hunter also enjoys any activity that is a threat to life or limb and lives by the creed, “You can’t die hardcore if you don’t live hardcore.” Ask him about what he does on the weekends and you’ll probably hear a good story. He also has lots of good tips if you want to have your own adventure.

Despite all the fun, he is serious about being the best in his field. He graduated at the top of his dental school class at the University of Louisville, trained at Indiana University Medical Center, and is always learning new techniques for his patients. He is currently a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and practices a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is most passionate about full mouth reconstruction and has performed thousands of the All-on-Four dental implant surgery.

Symptoms Treated at Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery, Las Vegas, NV

Oral surgery can address a wide range of dental and facial concerns, providing effective and permanent solutions for the following conditions.

  • Impacted Teeth

Teeth that are blocked from erupting properly (most often wisdom teeth) can cause pain, crowding, and swelling. Our knowledgeable surgeons can expose and remove impacted teeth to alleviate oral discomfort and preserve your smile.

  • Problematic Wisdom Teeth

When third molars only partially emerge or erupt at unnatural angles, this can result in jaw pain, recurring infections, or damage to surrounding teeth. Wisdom teeth removal eliminates symptoms and restores comfort while also helping you avoid future dental issues.

  • Broken and Infected Teeth

Teeth that are cracked or decayed can become severely infected, resulting in pain, swelling, and systemic health risks. A skilled oral surgeon can extract the problematic teeth, removing the source of the infection while preparing the site for restoration.

  • Missing Teeth

Gaps in your smile can lead to bone loss, tooth shifting, and difficulties with speaking or chewing. Our expert team offers implant-based solutions to restore your smile and preserve oral health, ranging from single implants and traditional bridges to All-On-4 Full® mouth dental implants, which replace an entire arch of missing teeth.

  • Severe Bone Loss

Advanced bone loss can affect the stability of your jaw and complicate traditional restorative treatments. The best oral surgeons use the latest technology to restore function and rebuild volume, including bone grafting treatments and zygomatic dental implants.

  • Jaw Misalignment and Facial Asymmetry

A crooked jaw or other structural imbalances can cause joint pain, bite problems, and uneven facial features. Corrective surgery can realign the jaw and alleviate pain, making you feel more comfortable and confident in your appearance.

  • Cysts and Tumors of the Face and Jaw

Growths in your jaw or facial tissues can be alarming, even if they’re benign. A qualified oral surgeon can perform a biopsy to ensure an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, as well as other restorative procedures, such as dental implants or bone grafting.

What Patients Can Expect Before Anesthesia

Before undergoing any anesthesia, it’s essential to follow our pre-operative instructions, including fasting, clothing choice, medication adjustments, and arranging for a driver. These preparations help ensure that your procedure proceeds smoothly and your recovery begins on a solid foundation. Our expertly trained surgical team will monitor your safety and comfort before, during, and after your procedure.

What Patients Should Know About Post-Operation Instructions

After your procedure, we’ll provide detailed post-operative instructions to protect the surgical site, from managing discomfort and swelling to guidance on hydration, nutrition, and rest for optimal healing. Our expert team of oral surgeons in Las Vegas will provide specific guidelines for oral hygiene, activity levels, bleeding control, and medication management. We’ll thoroughly review these instructions with you so you feel comfortable and confident during your recovery.

We offer flexible payment options, including cash, all forms of checks, and major credit cards, as well as third-party financing plans through companies such as CareCredit, Mountain America, and LendingClub. Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who Is a Candidate for Dental Implants Near Las Vegas, NV?

Many patients are candidates for dental implants already or can qualify after receiving preparatory treatments like bone grafting and tooth extractions. Candidacy is more accurately determined after a comprehensive consultation and evaluation with our oral surgeons.

  • How Much Does Treatment Cost In Las Vegas, NV?

The cost of dental implants is based on many factors, including how many teeth are missing and for how long, the types of materials used, and what additional procedures are needed. Our team can help you apply for dental financing to help you afford treatment.

  • How Long Is the Treatment Process?

Dental implant treatment can range from a few months to over a year. In many cases, implants can be surgically placed soon after the consultation and treatment plan are complete. For patients needing bone grafting, this may be a separate procedure requiring several months of healing before dental implant surgery. After dental implants are placed, healing can take three or more months before optimal integration is achieved and a final restoration can be permanently attached. In many cases, patients can wear a temporary restoration during healing.

  • How Long Can I Expect Dental Implants to Last?

Dental implants are designed to last for decades and have the potential to last for the rest of your life! Surgical technology and clinical experience, along with your health habits, ultimately affect the longevity of your implants. Choosing an experienced implant team like ours at Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery will provide you with a much more precise and accurate surgery, which will better guarantee the long-term success of your treatment.

  • Can Dental Implants Be Placed Immediately After Tooth Extractions?

Yes, in many cases. Our surgeons use advanced 3D imaging to assess bone density and determine if immediate implant placement is possible. Techniques like All-On-4® allow us to strategically position implants during the same appointment as extractions, reducing treatment time and preserving jawbone structure.

  • How Is Pain Managed During Dental Implant Surgery In Las Vegas, NV?

We prioritize patient comfort with options like IV sedation and local anesthesia. Our minimally invasive surgical techniques reduce tissue trauma, which minimizes post-operative discomfort. Most patients manage recovery with over-the-counter pain relievers and report less discomfort than expected.

  • Can Dental Implants Stabilize Loose or Ill-Fitting Dentures?

Yes. Implant-supported dentures use 2-4 strategically placed implants to anchor full or partial dentures, eliminating slippage and improving chewing function. This is an ideal solution for patients seeking a more secure, natural-feeling alternative to traditional dentures.

  • What Dietary Restrictions Apply After Implant Surgery?

For the first 3-5 days, stick to soft foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, and smoothies. Avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that could disrupt healing. Our team provides a detailed post-operative guide to ensure optimal recovery and implant success.

  • Does Bone Loss Disqualify Me from Dental Implants In Las Vegas, NV?

Not necessarily. Our surgeons specialize in bone grafting and zygomatic (cheekbone) implants to address bone loss. All-On-4® implants also bypass the need for grafts in many cases by angling implants into existing dense bone areas.

  • How Do You Treat Complex Dental Conditions Like Bone Loss or Impacted Teeth?

Our board-certified oral surgeons use advanced surgical techniques tailored to each patient’s unique needs. For bone loss, we offer bone grafting to rebuild jaw structure or zygomatic implants anchored in the cheekbone for severe atrophy. For impacted teeth, we collaborate with orthodontists to guide eruption when possible or perform precise extractions using 3D imaging to avoid nerves and sinus cavities. Conditions like cysts, tumors, or jaw misalignment are treated with minimally invasive surgery, followed by restorative solutions like dental implants or bone regeneration. Every treatment plan prioritizes long-term oral health, function, and aesthetics.

  • Is parking and public transit information available for patients visiting the Las Vegas office?

Yes, parking is available around our building. The 104 bus stop at WB Smoke Ranch, located after Rock Springs, is a five-minute walk from our office.
