TMJ Treatment and Surgery
What Is Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)?
If you have any serious problems with the jaw, jaw joint, and the muscles that control movement of the jaw, you may be diagnosed with temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ.
Our doctors can help make some adjustments to your bite to help correct the alignment. Misaligned teeth can cause teeth grinding, which can aggravate TMJ symptoms.
Experienced TMJ Treatment and Surgery Specialists
The experienced team at Nevada Oral & Facial Surgery can prepare a TMJ treatment plan that includes lifestyle recommendations and invasive, and non-invasive, treatments that can correct jaw problems permanently. Some patients fare well with lifestyle changes such as eating soft foods, taking pain medication, and applying a warm compress to the area that is painful or tender. If the symptoms do not go away on their own, you may be fitted with a night guard to reduce teeth clenching. Only a small percentage of patients will require TMJ surgery. We can discuss the best course of action during your consultation.
