Although it is a routine procedure in most dentists’ office, the days after your wisdom tooth removal should include nourishing food that is comfortable for you to eat. This means avoiding hot foods and using a straw, especially in the first hours and days after your oral surgery. We know that it can get boring to stick to yogurt and shakes so we found dozens of fun and tasty recipes that are easy to eat and beneficial to your recovery.
Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup
Our first series takes a look at some simple and tasty takes on traditional comfort foods. This delicious, low carb version of chicken noodle soup is a wholesome way to get your veggies in while you recover.
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 leek, halved, washed, cut into short, thin strips
- 2 celery sticks, trimmed, thinly sliced
- 2 carrots, peeled, thinly sliced diagonally
- 1/2 Cup reduced-fat dairy spread
- 1/3 cup plain flour, sifted
- 1/3 cup light thickened cream
- 6 cups chicken stock
- 2 cups shredded, cooked chicken
- 1/4 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves, finely chopped
First, heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add leek, celery, and carrot and cook for seven minutes, until vegetables are soft. Transfer cooked vegetables to a plate. Melt the dairy spread in a saucepan over medium heat until is begins to foam. Stir in flour and cook mixture for one minute and then remove from heat. Slowly whisk in cream and stock. Return to heat cream and stock mixture to heat and stir until mixture begins to boil. Return vegetables to saucepan and add chicken. Continue cooking and stir in parsley. Serve and enjoy!
